Torq
I am uninitiated in the modelling and skinning scene and I have a question that is more than likely a little stupid. Seeing that Jedi Outcast is based on the Quake 3 Arena engine, is there an easy way to convert Quake 3 models to JK2 models?

spacermonkey
np. I will elaborate a alittle tho, so not to seem rude. JK2 models use a set animation (humanoid - bipedal). The animation was created in XSI and theres 17000 frames of it. Admitedly some quake 3 models are humanoid, maybe even alot, but theres more to it than that. You'd still have to slice the model into the JK2 parts- cap those segments and then apply the tags. Then you'd need to weight everything to the model and create the hierarchical links. So yes it could be done with a quake 3 model but its as much work as building your own. Also quake 3 model (most) are 1000 -1500 polys, and use substantially smaller texture sizes than JK2 models so they would look chunky and low res in comparrison unless those elements where also altered.
