GeForce 4 MX440 extremely poor Framerate

Ok I've done some additional testing and I have to give a firm "wtf"?

I benchmarked both my Voodoo 5 5500 that I was using and the GeForce 4 MX440.

Voodoo 5 5500: 1986

GeForce 4 MX440: 3876

Quake III Arena Frame rates

Settings 1024 and all settings all the way up

Voodoo 5 5500: 35-90 depending on location.

GeForce 4 MX440: Could not force card to produce less than 90+ fps no matter what I turned up, jacked the resolution up 2 more notches and same result.

Jedi Knight II MP

1028x with everything jacked up except in bilinear mode and 16-bit color. Test was done on ffa_bespin and ffa_deathstar with 9 bots.

Voodoo 5 5500 w/ wickedgl driver: produces between 29-90 fps depending on location. It once dipped to 19.

GeForce 4 MX440: Produced between 15-79 fps.

In this game the GeForce card produced consistantly between 4 and 20 fps less than the voodoo 5 . So far as turning the settings down, I have noticed this since I first installed my voodoo 3 way back in the day. I can turn everything down all the way to bare settings and still end up with a total of 8-12 fps improvement.

Any ideas? Too new for great drivers or is there something else?

Anyway, system specs are as follows

Athlon 1400mhz Thunderbird

Abit KT7-A motherboard

1024MB PC133 SDRAM

Sound Blaster Live! 5.1

Windows ME and Windows XP Pro (tried both, ME was better)

60GB hard drive.

Time demo on Voodoo 5 5500 shows 40.1 fps.

Conclusion: If it isn't already obvious, don't bother with GeForce 4 MX440. I was hoping to get a quick improvement in THIS game as well as Wolfenstein without really spending a lot of cash since I've gotten burned on high-end cards repeatedly. However, the real clear choice will be to shell out the extra 50 clams for a Ti4200 sometime later this month. This thing goes back to da sto' tomorrow.
