Whenever I check my server IP it's not the same one my friends see right? (I use a router and I see my IP as 192.168.0.123)

The way my friends see my IP it's 24.78.167.176 apparently with a port of something like (-885) ???? I see it as using 28070...

Whats goin' on???!

How you got your network to run is beyond me, but i'll lend a hand here.

Multiple IP Confusion:

---------------------------

your router acts as a computer. It takes the IP Address 24.78.167.176 as it's IP Address. It also has a DHCP function on it which assigns IP's to each computer that connects to the router, or you can set up your internal IP's manually, but by your frustration, i'm going to assume that DHCP is enabled on it, and that's how you got assigned 192.168.0.123.

Which IP is which?:

------------------------

Now that we know this, the reason your friend sees the 24.78.167.176 IP is because this is the only IP that is visible to the outside world. All the 192.168.xxx.xxx IPs only exist on your side of the router (and other peoples sides of their routers/networks). All your internet traffic, and that of everyone connected through your router is squeezed through that one IP address. The router keeps track of who asked for what, and so on, and "routes" the traffic back to who requested it.

Ports:

-------

Now for your port problem. Find your administration tool for your router. Mine is a web based tool (as are most) that I access by going to 192.168.1.1, but i assume that your router may be different (try 192.168.0.1). From here you need to turn on port forwarding for the port you are using, and have it forward it to your ip (192.168.0.123). That should be it.

Of course if your router IS giving you an IP address with DHCP, then forwarding the port to 192.168.0.123 may not work. You might have to manually configure the IPs of the computers on your network.

Just trying to help confuse you even more...
