Evil-Muttley
To be honest, although i like the Star Wars films and the books etc, i prefer to take both as a whole, i don't care what Lucas says about what is and isn't canon, for one thing (at least at first) the books etc had to be approved by Lucasarts (or lucasfilm, whatever) for continuity etc It also doesn't help that Star Wars is basically a remake of another film (Kurosawas The Seven Samurai) with a few added elements......now now, calm down it's true, i love the trilogy as much as anyone else (although not to the point of camping out in front of cinemas for a fortnight to get ep2 tickets) but this arguement is more than a bit silly. Prowl lightstar
I am going to read those books, however from the original films, i've never understood why everyone loves fett so much. He does naff all. The only good bit is when he give cheek to vader "he's no use to me dead, he's worth alot to meee!"

Frumpus
Originally posted by Jedi_Monk Lucas said that as far as he's concerned, Fett's dead. That's why he added the beak in the RotJ:SE, to make people see that Fett was dead. He was chewed up by the bloody thing's beak. He's dead! Yeah, I'd like to see that in writing, too. "Chewing people up"?? Well if that's the case then what's so ominous about it taking 1000 years to digest if you're already dead from "munch munch munch"?? Sorry, that explanation doesn't fit. Hmm, yeah, the dehydration thing does seem to be quite a pickle. HEY, . . . maybe that's it! ? The Sarlaac "pickles" them - and digests for 1000 years! heh? huh? HUH? Am I right? C'mon.. .. . yeah. . . BTW, I don't even want to get into the whole crappy "family ties" issue within SW. Is this a galaxy with billions/trillions of inhabitants, or a 20-cast-member soap opera?? OK, so there are people in Mandalorian battle armour in the prequels. Cool. I was actually hoping and expecting that. But making the the main Mandalore BOBA FETT'S DAD?? Come on. What are the odds of that?! Plus Jaster Mereel (sp?) is his "real"/EU name - not Boba Fett. Yeah, yeah, "canon", I know, but it seems Lucas may just be a party-pooper/have a chip on his shoulder - or just might well be a control-freak - to pull this stunt. The EU storyline sounded pretty good to me (as in, Jaster Mereel created an alias, "Boba Fett" - not the other way around); why mess with it? If you read Starwars.com's entry on Boba Fett they say something like: there are many rumors as to the origin of Boba Fett, some say he was a stormtrooper, other say he was a Journeyman Protecter named Jaster Mereel...etc Anyway they tried to account for this, and frankly if someone told me I couldn't do what I wanted with my story because some other author had written something in a book, whether I had licensed the author to do so or not I would tell that someone to get stuffed. I reckon you would too.
