tofu Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 Hi, I'm new to JK2radient. Just would like to ask, which takes longer? Doing the brushwork for a map, or texturing it? I find the texturing seems to take a lot longer, and is also a pain in the ass compared to brushwork. Do you guys draw out the entire level the texture it? Or do you do it together? And about the textures, is it possible to have a 'search' feature like they did in worldcraft? As in, type in 'wall' and all the textures with 'wall' in it will come up?
patchx Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 in the texture window under the "show shaders " tick box you can type in search thingos i texture as i go so i can keep in mind the feel of the enviroment im trying to create by looking around it might not be as effecient but i think its better for creative construction -patch
fabrikashon Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 I texture as I go as well, it does seem to take forever - but maps do take a lot of time to complete no matter which way you go about creating them. I find texturing as I go gives me less chance to leave miss-aligned textures laying around. As when I'm making all the brush work, I know how the textures have to be; where as if I did the brush work and then came back, I'd probably forget some of the small brushes.
UniKorn Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 I create the entire layout in system/caulk texture. Afterwards I apply the textures that are needed. I align as I apply the texture.
tofu Posted May 3, 2002 Author Posted May 3, 2002 Hmm good point there unikorn. Do you create the brush to fit the texture or adjust the size of the texture to fit your brush? I've resorted to the former because I'm a lazy ass.
