Grouping Brushes

What are the benefits of grouping things other than moving them all together at once? Are there other benefits?

The benifits are twofold - one, it shortens compile times, because vis considers any grouping to be one brush and two, it makes for a clean mapping pallete (spelling?).....easier to move stuff around.

Now I know your next question...."If groupings speed compile times, why wouldn't I just make my entire map one big grouping?"

Answer:

Because if any one polygon of that group can be seen, then the entire group must be drawn.....if the entire map was one huge group, then every poly would be drawn at all times..that would be bad

:D

Also, never group any brush that touches the void ( the outer hull of your map ) as that would cause a leak. FYI

Ah great.

This grouping information is very useful. I will try to experiment with it while avoiding exterior-hull grouping.
