Grets Sirob Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 Grrrrrr! The first time I tried to post this, IT DISAPPEARED!!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!!!! I WAS LOGGED IN!!!!!!!!! AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, I am nearly finished with my level(which is called Mimban Temple (Duel Version) BTW). And I think it is coming along just fine. Except, I have some questions that need answered before I can say I’m done. First, I could be wrong (it has happened before), but it is my firm belief that when you stand knee deep in fire, it should hurt! It doesn’t when I stand in it! I made a trigger brush, set it so it would cause five damage, but it didn’t work. WHY NOT!!!! Am I missing something?! Second question, bot support. You’re going to think I’m an idiot for not looking through the other posts for the answer, but none of that made sense to me. Wait! I know! Will Mark “Gonk” Fanucci, author of “Sky High”, please step forward. How did you add bot support? Buggy support or not my map isn’t very complicated, so it should be a problem. Help! K. now for the screenshots!(if you drooled over my first screens, you’ll drool even more over these! )Don’t worry, all of the rooms are much brighter. (dang screenshots, always darkening my pics:mad: ) I give thee, FIRE!!!… Even the hallways get light now… The lower level of the center room… A ramp leading up to the upper level of the center room(still a little dark, I know, but it’s just a ramp, not a duel zone:)) The upper level of the center room… What do you think, even better than before? Keep in mind that all the rooms are bright enough to see and battle in. Now, if you can answer my questions, great! Please scroll down and read everything before posting questions and comments. Feedback welcome! Thanks
mikemj33 Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 I like that shot of the lower part of the main room. Anyway, as for the fire damage, make sure the key is dmg instead of damage (I did this). As for bot support, try this. Hope this helps.
Grets Sirob Posted May 3, 2002 Author Posted May 3, 2002 I did set the key to "dmg", and that bot support document, it (A). Makes no sense to me. (B). Tried it, didn't work.(Might be because it didn't make sense to me.) But thanks anyway!
The Truthful Liar Posted May 4, 2002 Posted May 4, 2002 ooh... I like the level, very nice atmosphere - much better than most levels that are up in the clouds like bespin. It's time to go underground! YEAH!
Grets Sirob Posted May 5, 2002 Author Posted May 5, 2002 Hey, just got back from camping trip, and I am going to bump. Need an answer to my question.
Grets Sirob Posted May 5, 2002 Author Posted May 5, 2002 Hey, uh, answer to my question, need now. Can't continue level without. Want to start NOW!

patchx Posted May 5, 2002 Posted May 5, 2002 sorry is the trigger brush your using a trigger_hurt brush or just a trigger brush? -patch
Grets Sirob Posted May 5, 2002 Author Posted May 5, 2002 What I did was I made a trigger brush, than I pressed "n" for entity list, selected "trigger_hurt", and set the key"dmg" and the value 5. Did I do it wrong? Oh, and Gonk hasn't stepped forward yet. How come? And I just thought of something, my fire, uhh, makes no noise. How do I make it make noise? Thanks! Edit: I just realized something. There's a thing next to replies(on the forum) that lets you see how many people have veiwed your post. 144!!!! WHAT THE HECK?!!!! ARE YOU GUYS READING BUT NOT ANSWERING!!!!!!!!!! ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
patchx Posted May 5, 2002 Posted May 5, 2002 i made a radioactive river that takes health by building a brush to the same dimensions over it and right clicking on it and selecting trigger_hurt from the trigger list to play a sound near the fire make an entity called target_speaker and set it to play whatever sound u want (is there a fire sound in JO?) -patch
Grets Sirob Posted May 5, 2002 Author Posted May 5, 2002 I'm sorry, but what are you saying I should do. Because I did that. Except my trigger_hurt is bigger than the fx_runner thing. The fire is a regular fire, can't have you standing on the edge of the fire and not get hurt, plus it's hot.
patchx Posted May 5, 2002 Posted May 5, 2002 i was just saying that i didnt pick pick trigger_hurt frrom the entities menu (pressing n) i picked it from the right click menu and i thought that might make a difference i made an func_plat and tried to change it to func_door with the entities menu and while its name changed in the map it didnt work properly -patch
