Eternity
Do you like it? Personally, it lags like hell on my machine, even with the revised .exe code I downloaded from somewhere. Plus, the sheer size of the place is a little overwhelming; it's hard to get where you want, and some places are a little bare. But damn, what a huge game. OOO
I have a p3 700 with 350 odd megs of ram and a 32 bit video card. Nothing special and I hardly ever lag. One thing I did do though was download a memory manager from tucows.com. It was for another game, but I dont' see how it could hurt I'm lovin the game, the graphics are awesome and there is so much detail its amazing. If its raining and you go under water, it sounds just like when I swim in my pool in the rain, its great You can even go into a house and steal the plates/forks/knives/cups/candles/tablecloth off the tables, assuming no one is in there to see you do it and report you to the guards. I've found dozens of 'books' in the game so far. They have anywhere from 2 to 12 pages so far, and the short storys have been fairly entertaining to read. The alchemy skill is very nice. It was confusing at first, but once I worked with it some and managed to figure out how it works I found it to be quite simple, yet complex in the way reagents work together to make different potions. Lots of attention to detail, lots of character classes, lots of things to do; I'm in heaven. Elder Scroll games are different then most (all) other RPGs. If your expecting something like a Finanl Fantasy, you're going to be VERY dissapointed. These games are VERY non linear. You can go anywhere you want, do anything you want, in any way that you have enough skill and luck to pull off. An awesome game, IMHO. Very deep with many things to do. I hope you can get it to run better on your machine. Oh and take lots of notes If you have any questions about gameplay ask away. I'm only level 10 though and I haven't begun to play with the magic yet (I'm running an assasin type character) but I might be able to help you. cqdemal
By 'take lots of notes', are you saying that the journal feature the game provides is not that efficient? And my God... tablecloths!!!!
OOO
The journal the game provides you with is great for keeping track of quests and what people have said. But it does not keep track of all the side info that will be useful in later games. I make notes of what components combine with other componants to make potion effects for one thing. See, each reagent I've found so far can do anything from 1 to 4 effects. Depending on you're alchemy skill you will see these effects. If you have a low alchemy skill, you may only see the first effect. When you manage to get you're skill over 45 you get to see the third effect. You make potions by combining two or more reagents with the same effect. Two reagents with 'restore health' will make a restore health potion. Since you have 4 possible effects per reagent, and 4 slots for reagents when making a potion you can make some really complex mixes. You can also end up with bad side effects too, like a drain fatigue or drain strength if these effects happen to double up. I've also got written down where I've found books that raise your skills just by reading them. So the journal keeps fairly good track of your quests and directions NPCs have given you, but it does not keep allot of other info that I'll have no chance of remebering in a few months when I replay with another alchemy guy OOO
cqdemal
Just the kind of answer I wanted to hear! Thanks, OOO. Today (May 6) marks the 8th day of my search for Morrowind. Still fruitless as ever. There's always tomorrow...
