Ignodium
My jedi knight pops up "program has generated errors" popups and im trying to figure out how to fix it. I look in drwtsn32.log (the error log) and jk2 and quake 3 (q3 and q3 ta engines, dont know if that is related to the problem) bring up access violation errors, anyone see these before? Application exception occurred: App: (pid=1472) When: 4/25/2002 @ 06:32:47.102 Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)
Sutek
From the Microsoft site: "Many exception errors are not processed by applications. The most common exception error is EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005). It occurs when a pointer is dereferenced and the pointer points to inaccessible memory or a write operation is attempted on read-only memory. If an application does not trap an exception, the Win32 module, UnhandledExceptionFilter, will do one of the following: display a message box, invoke Dr. Watson, or attach your application to a debugger. " This is kind of implying you have some sort of memory access problem going on in the background, which typically is the result of background programs - often ones that you haven't installed or even know about (spyware). I haven't yet heard if it works at all, but you could try scanning for spyware with Ad-Aware (from http://www.lavasoft.nu I believe), and trying again. Other research along similar lines hints it may be a corrupt registry entry (I believe you are using Win2k?). You might have some luck if you uninstall JK2, then run regedt32.exe and go through to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Lucasarts Corporation blah blah and delete any keys you find related to JK2. However, given you are having this with Q3 implies it's not a unique registry prob to JK2, so it's more likely to be leaky background tasks. Another avenue is to have your system file checker utility run through and make sure no system files have become corrupt (if you can find it).
