The Truthful Liar Posted May 5, 2002 Posted May 5, 2002 The level design is nice, but the lighting is... how shall I put this, just WAY too bright. There's room for improvement, especially on the lighting. Also add some more 'color' into the level, use various textures and see how it goes. Cheers
andee_dean Posted May 5, 2002 Author Posted May 5, 2002 Hehe. Most definatly. i was going to texture most of everything diffrent after i got done with the whole design. I'm still adding supports and all. And for the "AGHHH I AM BLIND!!!!!!!!!!!" kind of lights, its becouse i used fullvis(nolight). I'm still trying to figure out how to acualy make lights. most of the tutorials of what i read were making No(with a cap N) sence at all to me What do you guys think about me adding two big platforms out to the sides with ships(like in duel_bay. where that ship right in the middle of the map) is there asif people flew up to duel eachother and those were there ships? just a idea:D -Andee
FEXX Posted May 5, 2002 Posted May 5, 2002 This map is rather well designed. But the lighting is a bit off and unrealistic. The texturing is okay, but could be improved greatly. But your map is at a good stage to polish it too visually. Also, face select the sides of your brushes and give them textures. The textures on the sides of the brushes seem to be getting no texture mapping attention. It'd also be cool may be, an idea, to see a network of tunnels people could use under the whole structure you have now. They'd enter via the circle platform somehow and drop down into a small dark tunnel system with items and such. The tunnels under the stairs could exit in four different places above the stairs. This way people could run around the map without always being insight and get goodies without others seeing them. Just an idea.

CTM_Xtortius Posted May 5, 2002 Posted May 5, 2002 The way to put lights will change back to the old Radiant way once the official radiant will be complete. Then you will have to give values of how strong lights wil be and it will be much better than this crappy way thrust me . I agree with the other change the textures on the stairs! and adding the 2 shuttles is a good Idea I think, and I would also insert a statue (model) in the center of the world, that my idea cos it looks kinda empty (the tunnels is a wast of time I think, it will never work out, it will always be ugly:D )
andee_dean Posted May 6, 2002 Author Posted May 6, 2002 thanks, I am working on the tunnels right now, they are comming along quite nicely but there not exsactly how i want them. I added some support beams to make it all look more realistic, and I also added more textures to some of the stairs so there not all the same, its sorta dark color. fits in very well if you ask me . I'm having problems putting models in for some reason, i unzipped the assets0.pk for the ship models and when i go to add it(misc_model) gives me some error(i dont know what it says but i am going to try again right now and see what it is and then post it up here) And also. How do i add a smoke effect, i want to add thusters on the botom of the map, either thrusters or atenna or a beam just so it looks asif its holding it up and not magicly up in the air by itself. thanks. -Andee:fett:
