Light Saber Color

Why Dark Jedis always have red lightsabers? If the lightsaber is determined just by the gem type, can`t a jedi get a red light saber just because he likes that color? It sounds kinda as a frivolous matter, and I don`t really think that there should be a connection between the lightsaber color and the allignment.

 

I wanted to ask also if the title "Darth" has any particular meaning....

also the darth title means "bit of a twat" at least it does in my case

i tink its because sith and dark jedi use a synthetic crystal that creates a more powerful blade while the 'true' crystals create a blade with more maneuverability

i think the saber color thingy is just to point out the 'bad-guys' from the 'good-guys'. Like in western movies where the good always have light clothing while the bad have dark. And since the inter-galactic evil color is red its natural that sith's have red sabers........
