What I mean is that the apprentice is less intelligent at the time, not completely lower IQ type thing. When he becomes the master, he becomes more intelligent (as much as his master) so for the time being he is in every way the complete newbie.

Vader was NO WAY even CLOSE to the power of the emperor. Even with a lightsaber and fully expecting the lightning bolts, there is nothing you can do to block/avoid them.

You refer to wisdom, not intelligence.

Whereas I figure I'd wind up falling to the dark side any way, I'll just start out there!

Besides, after reading through this thread I'd say most of you so-called light siders have already fallen from grace. Using mind trick for your own personal gain ("you will give me 20 bucks") would not fit with the credo of the jedi. That whole mind trick thing always made me wonder exactly how "good" the light side was in the first place....

Now the dark side, on the other hand, was not always just two people (if I may step into the EU for a moment). However, they were intelligent enough to realize the only way they wouldn't wipe themselves out was to limit the number of powerful members...

And, to agree with quite a few others, the force lightning power is just too cool to give up... :saberr::lightning:dsaber:

blargh. friggin bantha poodoo...

All you darksiders gotta hide behind your little force powers, cuz you know that in a real fight, us lightsiders would be whoopin your @$$ all over the place. Bunch of friggin cowards, you darksiders are (Micozade the biggest, he has to send others to do his deeds so he doensn't get hurt)

Ye've never heard of strategy, have ye? Darksiders send underlings to soften up the opponent, in order to be certain that they will win once the true face-off arrives. This is neither cowardly nor idiotic, but good strategy.

Now, it sucks for the underlings (*cough* Darth Maul *cough cough*), but keeps the true Sith Lord in power much longer.

At least until the whiney little moisture farmer talks your right hand man into tossing you down a ventilation shaft...argh...

Damn it Vestril! You are well learned in the ways of the force. All your statements about the jedi are correct. And i was hoping you wouldnt remember that little scene in the Thrawn series where Luke and Mara deflect Force lightnings from Jorus C'baoth. GRR!!!! It has a cool effect though, it spins around the lightsabre before it deflects off :D

About the emperor getting tossed, i think its like Darth Maul getting cut in half. It was so unexpected that no Jedi of any degree of power could have forseen it. But i think in that scene good ol Emp was gettin in touch with his looney dark side for a bit. Do you remember the look on his face when he is bolting Luke? He looks a few dimes short of a loonie if you ask me.

Actually...you don't even need a Lightsaber...but you REALLY have to know your S***...

Do you speak of force absorb?

In some of the footage shown at Celebration II we see Yoda deflect Force Lightning with his Bare hands...:D

I had forgotten about Lukes encounter with C'Boath's lightning in the Heir to the Empire Trilogy actually...shame on me!! *bows before Caldera's superior knowledge* :)

He deflects it! I thought he was actually the one shooting it (i hope this is not a spoiler because im not referring to anyone or anything).

Wow, I guess i ask for too much. Him shooting that would have caused unbeliveable amounts of debate, because it supposed to be such a dark side power ^_^

It would be better to go as a lightside Jedi for these reasons.

- If you get hurt in battle, you can call upon the Force to heal yourself.

- light Jedi get to go on cool missions, dark Jedi, well don't.

- If your a dark Jedi and you have an empire that rules the galaxy, some light Jedi will come along and turn yyour empire into rumble.

- Good/light side always wins over evil/dark side in the long run.

In the long run? Not really. It's just a matter of where you leave off. For example, if you leave off at the end of EpIII, Bad always triumphs over good, if you leave off at the end of EpVI, good always triumphs over bad.

After that, at some point, bad will beat good again, and then good will beat bad. It's a cycle, and when you think about it, neither side fully wins...

You have a point.

JK lightside: light Kyle kills Jerec, years pass, Kyle falls to the dark side at the Sith temple, comes back as a lightsider but gives up the Force. JO finds his redemption and becomes a light Jedi again and kills Desann.

JK darkside: dark Kyle kills Jerec, steals the Valley's power and becomes the Dark Emperor, most likely turns the New Republic into a rubble but in a JK add-on level called Dark Emperor 2: Last of the Jedi, a young man went against the new empire and defeated it.
