bozner
I'm consistently getting "check sum" errors trying to play any type of saved game (auto, manual save). Patch is installed, game removed and reloaded. Auto save appears to work, as does saving in the middle of game, but won't retrieve without this error (and having to start from beginning) Sys; Athlon 1700XP 2 HD (30 & 20) 512 ram (1 stick) ASAS 133-C board Verto Gforce 3 T1-200 Creative Audigy Gamer Suggestions? bar-bar mandrel
Is your motherboard's PCI clock set to 1/4 FSB? (133/4 = 33) Run a virus scan? Turn OFF virus scanners running in background?
bozner
MB is set for jumperless @ 133. Virus scan run. Disabled during game, but I don't stop the service (should I?). FWIW - WinXP Pro. Also - don't have any other errors in log that show up when this occurs. Thanks for the reply, and any and all other advice is most welcomed. boz
bar-bar mandrel
the PCI clock, where the hard drive controller lives should be clocked at 1/4 FSB. There's probably a setting in the BIOS where you set up the CPU if it's jumperless. PCI should be at 33. AGP is 66. If you overclock PCI by having the wrong divider, you may get hard drive access errors. If it's set properly, we know thats not it! I'd run scandisk on the drive too BTW ::EDIT:: Yeah, I think you might want to stop the virus service too. Active Virus scanners, depending on the software's design, are snooping in on file operations etc. try turning them off at least to ELIMINATE them as a possible cause.
