morte_man Posted May 12, 2002 Share Posted May 12, 2002 I looked at the Saberists Code, and found some of it correct. So i looked at the Anit Saberists Code, and found it some what correct as well. So i though, I should make my own guide that is nuetral to either, and borrows ideas from both. Here is how to join, followed by the guide lines: 1. In order to say you are a part of the -=|NSC|=- simply add -=|NSC|=- or -NSC- to your name. This in no way should affect any guild memberships etc. 2. THE NSC IS NOT A GUILD 3. At no point should any player be forced into joining the -NSC- guide lines: 1. Don't attack those with sabers down unless they make a move towards you. In this case it is safe to attack one with their saber down. 2. Don't kick someone off a server if they don't believe in the same ways as you. 3. Don't complain because someone has kicked your ass with a gun when you had your saber out, its part of the game get used to it. 4. Don't hesitate to kill someone who appears to be dueling but is not in the "saber duel" mode included in some game modes. 5. Do not kill someone who has challenged you and bowed BEFORE you accept the challenge. This i find very stupid and offensive. 6. If you are a part of NSC YOU CAN NOT BE A MEMBER OF EITHER SC OR ASC 7. Do not bash n00b's These are my ideas, feal free to reply with suggestions and comments. ---EDIT--- Ok I need to clear the air here. This group in no way wants to be in conflict with either the ASC or the SC. This code is made to make it more fun for the members who are in it. Seriously though, you've got the right idea. I only have a question about rule 5. When you say "Don't wait untill someone has lowered their lightsaber, challenged you to a saber duel, and bowed, and then kill them. this i find very stupid and offensive." What exactly are you saying? 'Cause it reads that after someone challenges you and then bows, that you shouldn't kill them. Are you trying to say don't kill said player WHILE they're bowing? That's what I'm guessing. Seriously though, do we really need a code that basically is asking for people to show common courtesy? Why must someone be part of a code in order to be polite? So what your sayin is GO AN ATTACK EVERYONE WAITING TO DUEL ON A FFA SERVER!!!! Ya you might wanna seriously rethink that. That has got to be one of my biggest problems with IDIOTS on public servers. And if there are enough ppl waiting to duel. You can bet your ass their all gonna gang up on you. If ppl are gathered on a landing pad or somewhere else, obviously waiting to duel. morte_man Posted May 12, 2002 Author Share Posted May 12, 2002 Maybe you should re-read it, it says don't hesitate to kill people who are dueling but are not in the saber duel mode, IT DOESN"T SAY GO AHEAD AND KILL PEOPLE WHO ARE WAITING TO DUEL. ShannonKnight Posted May 12, 2002 Share Posted May 12, 2002 I think it's a great idea, but for me i will stick with -sc- since i follow the "core" rules as not to kill anyone with his sabers down, except he walks to me and doesn't make a move like he wants to start a duel or such. I never called anyone anything because i got wiped from a lightning blast or a well thrown saber if i were fighting with any other player in ffa... as it's said it IS free for all. All i do is remember then, adapt and kill em If i bow and get sliced down i call him mean, and thats it. He got one cheap kill so what? The next time i face him he's dead meat. I will never kick someone of my server if he does not apply my rules, BUT i will kill him if i run a dedicated -SC- server and he can't behave. I hate the SC dearly, but please oh please don't start another flame war in this post. All the man wants is to have a group of people who want the best of both the SC and the ASC. We never intended to insult the ASC or you. I really don't WANT to make you my enemy, so please don't do this. The same goes for any of you SC morons who take offense to practically everything. Maybe instead of flaming everyone that doesn't agree with you, you guys would just shut up, the forums would be a much better place. 'Cause lets face it guys, instead of making the game more fun, all you have done is tear the community apart. We would be much better off if NEITHER group had ever been created. I belong to one clan the Apt11 clan. It basically consists of me, and occasionally my roomate. We basically invite and large chested women to join our clan, but to join you have to come live with us... If the server suddenly goes down, its because either my comp crashed or the net screwed up. I'm called -=|Morte|=- -NSC- so look for me. If the server does go down i will try to get it back up ASAP. It will be down while i'm sleeping, but i well leave it on while i'm at school (so if it goes down and it doesn't come back for a while i'm probably at school). But I might end up with NSC beacause id get tired of mindless killing. Sadly i will never get too cause my computer sux bad. It pentium 2 400mhz, 8mb vid card, 96mb ram. Stargazer Posted May 16, 2002 Share Posted May 16, 2002 Well, i'm with the SC, and i was before SC was even invented, whitch is one of the main reasons this 'code' works so well, its basically what many players do anyway. The first rule of the code in particular is accepted by a lot of people, and it's the one rule that actually needs to be respected at any time, anything else can be allowed without creating much of a big deal. The SC works particulary well in duel mode (no force, saber only). The servers you can find there are always filled with fair, almost honorable players. I suppose it's because the long times necessary for you to fight drives away a lot of the spammers and the lamers, leaving only people who are interested in real dueling. By bowing their heads before the fight and complimenting each other they add some flavor to the game, and you actually feel the character your playing with, and you kinda follow along. Of course, SC can work only as far as lightsaber dueling is concerned (main reason this code was made to begin with, it was in tune with the idea of playing a jedi). I will be running in normal servers with the tag -SC- next to my name, but truly, my only code there will be to avoid spamming, killing inanimated players, leave n00bs alone ect. The general 'code' you find in any FPS. Also, remember that this are 'suggested' codes, nobody is enforcing anything. If somebody attacks me when my saber off i won't star flaming the guy, he is playing the way he wants to, and so am i. I'm not part of the SC just because it's cool and i think everybody who doesn't is a lamer. I follow SC because i like to, i enjoy following this codes and that is it. The first time i saw people standing still with light saber out i left them alone it seemed obvious to me they had no hostile intensions and were whatching a saber fight. I seem to have adopted those rules for myself out of common curtousy anyway. This must be a american idea cos only americans seem to need to legeslate common curtousy (pedestrian right of way law) But seriously whats the beef with these two groups SC and ASC? and why should i join a group that promotes this most obvious of matters? I,m not slatting the idea, hell there are enough kids about that need it! just curious as to: Who are SC? Who are ASC? Why are they fighting like 3 year olds? Why should i join these groups? Only few 3 years on this board act like 3 year olds, and you don't need to join anything. Putting the tag means you abide to the rules (but, as you said, we all do in a way ),but it's also pretty cool when you find another SC and you start dueling with him\her, it gives you a sense of belonging in some sort of special group Just so you know, i'm planning another identity whitch is evil and will follow the Dark Side, albiet players with their saber off will still be avoided : they are weak, not worthy of my wrath Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
