A simple (dumb?) question to shaders

Hi

I read a ttorial about shaders and sky lights now I just ahve one question not covered there. I used the 'ships' sky and set a sun into it, now everythign works fine but as it is set into ym .shader file (seemingly) do I need to create such a file (like I need to create a script file to run maps) for others to see the sun with that sky?

Or is it build into my bsp when its compiled?

The shader-files are included in the assets0.pk3 . They give a texture a special look- from water to skys. If you want to create a shader use the jk2shader.exe-file.

But I think you won't need any shaders, because you are only using the standart shaders already included in the game.

If you still have questions, don't hesitate to contact me:

Is it normal that I see all the sky shaders in the texture window like green/black squares?

I've noticed that all the sky shaders refer to a file named "sky.tga" but this file is not in any of the .pk3's that came with the game. Loading skies.shader in the shader editor also gives me some error messages about "sky.tga" not being there.

Tigris: I added a sun to the standart shader with shift+clicking onto the ships sky shader. i only added the sun but if its not included in my bsp then on a client computer there would be no sun in the sky shader file no? Which would mean to have proper lighting (I have an open level and the light entities just dont work for me like I want). So i would need to make a custom shader using the ships sky tgs file and include that in my map no?
