Seriously... what is this crap?

 

Why was Red Stance nerfed so badly?

 

I play Force+Saber-Only CTF religiously, and the whole dynamic of the game has changed for the worse. CTF needs to be paced a certain way... Before, CTF had a good pace. You swung at people, they died.

 

But now, it takes WAY too long to kill someone in CTF unless you LAME people with the back-hitting attacks. The game has become a huge Force Push-Pull fest... and the loser gets to sniff the ass of his opponent before getting sliced by the ubiquitous back-swing attacks.

 

Don't get me wrong, Push-Pull have always been an integral part of CTF... but now it's almost exclusively used.

 

Also, not only have the stances/attacks been borked, but now Absorb is the dominating force power. With its new "stealth activation" ability, it's very difficult to tell if your opponent is using Absorb, other than the sound. With the Push-Pull fests that CTF has turned into, Absorb has become the new dominant ability since it resists the Push-Pull powers. Don't have Absorb? Have fun sniffing some ass before your die...

 

Sure, you can try to wait for your Absorb-using opponent to run out of force power... but he's gonna get in at least 3 or 4 Push-Pulls in on you... which is more than enough to take you down (to push you into a pit, or back-swing lame you). And if you happen to misjudge your opponent, and think his Absorb shield is down, then use Lightning or Grip... forget it... he just got all his Force power back.

 

Another problem with waiting-out-the-Absorb-power technique (in CTF at least), is that, more often than not, you're fighting with a group of people... maybe 1 or 2 teammates with the same number of enemies. So it's quite easy to have a teammate attacking someone else with, say, Force Lightning, and then have the Lightning effect actually hit someone YOU are concentrating your attention on, and the Force Lightning power ends up re-charging YOUR opponent's force gauge :\

 

So, all this culiminates together, and makes Force+Saber-Only CTF pretty pathetic. You are almost FORCED to use certain moves (back-swing moves) and Force powers (Absorb, Push/Pull) in order to stay competative. This is a hallmark of BAD gameplay.

 

1.02 wasn't perfect. You pretty much had to use Red-Stance and the DFA to stay competative... but at least there was a relative balance of Force powers.

 

And don't even get me started on the new Blocking... it is beyond ridiculous. I have literally seen 1 guy sit in a corner with Blue-Stance, and see him deflect ALL of his 4 or 5 attackers for at least 10-15 seconds. This was UNHEARD OF in 1.02... Just imagine how ridiculous it is trying to stop 1 person by yourself, or even with the help of a friend, when your opponent can just deflect attacks all day! You HAVE to use Force Push-Pull / Back-Swing in order to quickly dispose of your opponent and move on to the next attacker (or defender, if you are the one attacking).

 

Bah... Very disappointed. The Heal an Drain nerfs were a good decision... but everything else seems to have hurt gameplay rather than helped it (in CTF at least).
