DirectPlay!? Please Help!

Does anyone know how to use directplay with Jedi Outcast?

 

If you open DirectX Diag. and go to net work the JK2 exe will be there under direct play but i can't figure out how to use it at all. Ive looked in the manual and everywhere in the game but i cant figure it out.

 

Any help would be apreciated:D

Umm i'm not sure but isn't direct play just a way of having your programs interact under the direct x standard through windows and onto modem connection, hence it is a standard rather than a way of playing online.

 

I think i just confused myself.

 

Someone correct me if possible (or if i'm wrong).

You didnt only confuse yourself you confused me to.

 

Jk had direct play and i used it all the time. I was just wondering cause it will probebly help with lag which i get big time cause ive only got a 350 with 196 mb ram and a 32mb voodoo 4. My contection online is bad too.

 

any help would be nice i jyst want to know how to use directplay

if it can be used.

Okay Direct play is an archaic standard now and is unsupported by JO. Your thread was moved cause it was probably located in the wrong forum section.

I know directplay is old but it cuts down on lag on computers as bad as mine.

 

If it is unsupported by JO then why does directx diag say under the "network" tab, in the "Register Lobbyable DirectPlay Applications" box "jk2mp.exe"?
