Galadrielle
I sometimes create dueling games against AI bots (FFA or flat out duels), with sabers only, and at the highest skill level the bots are not that good. But get this... I reload some single player fights, and those opponents (some of them anyway) seem much tougher to beat. So what can I do to get an extremely tough AI opponent to duel against, saber only? Or at least get them as tough as some of the single player 1 on 1 saber fights I find myself in? All they do is run around like it's Quake, as if they expect to find a beam weapon to kill me from a distance .. if they'd only realize I made it "saber's only". Any help appreciated. Or references to web sites that already address this. Thank you.
Vorax
I take it you don't have a good internet connection, or I would suggest forget the bots and get on a duel server. I have found that on most of the Raven maps, the bots just can't win at all also. I gave them a bit more brains on my map, try downloading the Wired Lamp Studios Duel map pack http://www.jediknightii.net/files/index.php?link=file&id=262 Load up my map, Duel Power Relay (DUEL_WLS11), set your bots on Jedi Master and let her rip. I am not guaranteeing they will win, but they do fight better, IMHO then they do in the Raven Duels. The way bots play is more to do with the thinking of the mapper and the layout of the map, then their actual AI. The game is based off of Quake 3, but the AI is totally different in both how it is put into maps, and how bots act. - Vorax
Galadrielle
Most of the time I'd play on the Internet. But once in a while I just want to play offline (moreso so I can walk away from the computer a lot, which would be a little less ideal online). But the BOTS, especially saber only (with or w/out Force powers), are not that good. But in single player, they don't run around mechanically. They stay on you most of the time and try to take you down. MUCH more challenging and fun. In multiplayer, they're just running around. Only fighting you for a few swings before running off again for a bit, even in DUEL mode. And in DUEL mode, there's nothing to pick up, so it's pointless. So thought I'd see if anyone knew how to get them to behave, at the very least in Duel mode, saber only, like they do in single player: they stay on you and counter you quite well at times, especially the boss at the end of single player. Now that was a fight. Thank you for the info about that arena.
