Oh, that's because I haven't mapped it yet. :D

Seriously, the terrain was the hardest part for me, so I wanted to get it out of the way. ;)

i'm sure this was addressed a few pages back (9 pages, most i've seen yet!) but you gave 2 choices on how a person dies when they fall in the pit. I personally think you could do both. have a trigger with the mouth eating the person, then play a burping sound. meanwhile, they are in the stomach with the acid being slowly burned alive. and dont do 20 hp per second like i saw back there, make it much slower, teach the person a lesson for falling into the pit, also some screaming sounds would be good too... :evil3: . maybe have the acid in a closed room in which they drown while being burned..... muahhahhahaa, just i thought.

also, have you thought of puting some of the music from the barge in the movie in the level? its a party in there, and a good party has music. its all fun and games till someone gets hurt.

i apologize if these issues have been resolved, but i didnt have time to read 9 pages of: "great job, email me it when finished." great job by the way :p . just throwing some idea's out :D

:c3po: -where you will be slowly digested over a 1000 years

Klorel, the way it's built, it wouldn't look very good from inside the pit. That, and no one's going to want to sit in a pit slowly digesting. It would totaly ruin the game play. I like it the way it is now. Thanks for the interest and the suggestion, though. :)

Spacermonkey, do you have any idea how hard it is to find good tiled sand textures? :D

I think I'll be sticking with what I have. It's taken from my skybox, so it matches it exactly, which is neccesary for some effects I'm making, and also it helps to tie the two together, and give the level less of a claustraphobic (sp?) feeling. Plus, it looks pretty darn good in-game. ;) I think it looks bad in my screenie because I have to run in 16 bit color, since JK2 doesn't like my GFX card. It's actually a pretty nice texture. :)

Heh, I do. I've only seen about two nice ones, and one was a HL default. Mappers there got away with sandy stones, because sand alone looked horribly repetative.

I love the Idea of someone sitting in the pit dying...gets them out of the game for a few. Doesn't have to be long, maybe like 30 seconds...15....you know. Another Idea is make the pit like an air lock. I know in some maps, like duel_pit, if you get within a certain range of the window when it's broke you get sucked through. This could be the effect when getting close to the mouth. You could just get sucked through and off into darkness and that's it. Plus it makes people scream as they go through.

Huh... I just now realized that it IS tileable... I might use it after all.... Couldn't hurt to use it on some of my dunes. :) Add some variety.

And what are your shaders for? My sand shaders either make it slippery or Vertex lighting.

And Hanksta, the sides of the pit are slippery, so it's hard to escape, and you slide into the pit as the sarlacc's beak comes up to 'meet' you, and then you fade to black as your character screams. :) I think it works. ;)

Ew, I hate to think how annoying it would be to have to wait for someone to die slowly... drive me freakin' nuts. I can only imagine how vicious the players would get while spectating. Then the crowds rush to the pit to protest slow deaths and fall in themselves. The irony.

That's for the texture, camnron, but it needs a little more definition. When the texture is too flat, it looks VERY washed out in-game. This is the texture I've been using:

I've actually got most of the textures I need. Thank you so much, though. camnron... I really appreciate the help, but I'm not sure if I can use it anywhere. :(

Thank you, though. :)

Cmdr. Antilles, why don't you use Gensurf? I did a Hoth map that came out very well and with little head aches while learning the plug-in ;). All youy have to do is use a BW bitmap and have the program try to decifer it and you can then change the veribles to you liking. Send me an e-mail and I'll show you what I mean, and I'll send the plug-in.

And this is what it looks like in-game.

emp_hoth.txt

Let me know if the images aren't loading properly.

Edit:
