Minker
This game is really annoying me now! I have spent a lot of money on a decent computer and have been successfully playing loads of new games, all on maximum system requirments, until Jedi Knight 2. What amount of money do these programmers expect us to have to spend on a system? I am using a AMD 2000+xp, 512 Mb DDR ATI Radeon 8500 64 Mb DDR (with latest drivers) Sound Blaster Audigy Windows Xp On Maximum detail at 800x600 setting, even with using dynamic lighting effects, the FPS rate is virtually nil. This happens even when you are the only character on screen. Is it my computer of the programmers?
Cal-Gon Gin
Well, with everything cranked up the framerate is going to take a hit. How did you measure your frame rate? Do this: start a mp game. Pull down the console (shift + ~) and type "\timedemo 1" enter. Close the console, and play the demo. When the demo finishes, pull down the console and scroll up to the end of the demo and it will give you your average fps. For me, with a PIII 650 @ 730 with textures and geometry medium, 80x600, eyecandy off mostly, I get 57 FPS. In Quake3 with my config I get 180 fps. I've yet to start importing some of my Q3 tweeks but I know I can get better--however, the game is very playable at this framerate. Apologies if you already knew how to timedemo.
