Positional Audio Patch Problem

I was delighted to see that the JK II patch includes positional audio. I recently purchased the new Sound Blaster Extigy sound card and a set of Klipsch 5.1 Promedia speakers. However, I am very disappointed to find that enabling the positional audio absolutely ruins my framerate.

 

Obviously, positional audio is a larger drain on system resources than non-positional audio. However, my machine should be able to handle it. I'm running a P4 (1.6 Ghz), with 512 MB RAM, and a Geforce 3 Ti 200 (64 MB). Anyone else have this problem?
