Ok, shoot me if this is crazy.

All of you great modelers out there (Tee, talking to you too) Why not include .map files and open licences of all these AMAZING duel and FFA worlds (dual of fates, carbon freeze, etc.) I think an open community of maps would create a "plug and play" feel to SP MOD projects. Pick the best of the freelance maps, add/modify/populate/link it and give credit where do in the readmes to the original map maker or model designer or whatever. It takes a LARGE staff to bring great ideas to life (look at ILM) and most who are good at one component have trouble with another. It is still an honor to have your design featured in a grand SP mod or at least a piece of it, it's like looking at one of the episodes nad saying, see that thing there? I made that. Plus we can continue to improve and modify these great maps to keep everthing fresh by putting out different revisions and expansions. I understand the need to not loose all of your work and credit to another, but It's pretty well archived who made what and when so that would keep everything honest and I'm sure props would be given. For example, anyone making a EP1 mod couldn't do much better than LivingDeadJedi's newly released level, although they'd be welcome to try, I'd rather they use it as a base and modify the mod so they can use what REALLY works and get things out sooner than 2 years. I have also seen some great Carbonite freezing chambers and Pits of Carkoon that with some minor collabrative improvements, could be quite the jewel.

Thoughts?

(speaking of credit where credits due, this thread was inspired after seeing the breathtaking job Tee has done on Kashyyyk
