The sad thing is that those who didn't like it won't bother seeing it a second time, which is a pity as it would convert some of the Doubting Thomases. It's tastless morons like yourself who encourage the production of garbage like the Whole star wars series (excluding the original three). It had no plot, no acting, nothing epic. Bladerunnner. Try making action figures from the movie bladerunner, or lunchboxes, or t-shirts....its difficult isnt it... that's the sign of a good movie. One that doesnt bend over to take George Lucas' fist of "Merchandising opportunity" up the ass. I will assume you are young. My estimate is that the undeveloped brains of childrens 8-13 will enjoy this movie, and the endless lines of merchandise that they will spend their parents money on in the following weeks and months. If you are older than this, god help your taste in cinema. Star wars has been changed from a cult classic into an over-publicized version of "transformers" where today's youth can watch their beloved "figurehead" characters square off in moronic dialogue and laughable flying lightsaber duels. Next time try making a movie with some depth to it. Some sex, some blood. Something that not everyone in the audience will love whether male, female, black, white. Its when you look back on a movie and you have to wonder the motivations behind a character's actions that you begin to get immersed in it. There are no such compelling characters in star wars. They all wear their emotions on their sleaves (a good example being young anakin who blatantly admits his desire for Padme in his first line in the movie). George lucas has finished making star wars into what it always should have been. A goofy sci-fi romp for children and space nerds. congrautlations george, i won't be watching number three no matter how great your CG team is. Why don't you just lighten up and enjoy the film for what it is, entertainment. "You are a sad strange man, and you have my pity" as Buzz Lightyear once put it. Why don't you take your little Wyatt Earp reference and visit a forum for people that want to talk about something else other than the greatest series of films ever made. Don't believe me? Jedi_Monk Posted May 20, 2002 Share Posted May 20, 2002 I completely agree, beagle! I saw it for the second time Sunday afternoon and it lost nothing! I lost the baggage and really enjoyed it! Star Wars has never been about sex or blood, and the characters have always worn their emotions on their sleves (except Leia, maybe). All in all, this had the best acting of any of the SW movies. I'm sorry but i really cant take either of you shameless star wars nerds seriously. When I go to see a movie I look at it objectively. It is now clear to me that when people like yourself go to it, you look past the bad acting, terrible script, and nonsense title just so that you can catch another glimpse of your beloved star wars characters in action. Oh and as i explained in my first post, the reason it did well in the box office is because it hit its intended target audience. Anyway, even skeptics (like myself) went to see it JUST TO SEE if it really was THAT BAD. Regardless, we paid money which helped to contribute to what a great "success" it was in the box office. Some of us like a bit of escapism. You obviously don't, so please stick to the 1960s British kitchensink dramas like 'A Taste of Honey' and leave SW to those of us that like it. And if you don't think this had the best acting in a SW movie, then you really need to go back and watch the OT instead of relying on the vision in your head.
