How do I rotate models in JK2Radiant?

I've tried "R" then rotating models as I can with brushes, but when I try to rotate models in the same way, I end up rotating the highlighted red box surrounding the model, and not the model itself! Any suggestiojns would help!

Highlight the misc_model, press N and click one of the angle buttons at the bottom. Voila.
