Here's a nifty ASCII diagram:

Brush

-------

|____| misc_portal_surface ----> misc_portal_camera ----> target_position

One face of tha brush should have a 'portal' shader applied to it. I think 'system/portal' should work.

The misc_portal_surface ent. must also be withing 64 GU (or one big box) of the surface of the brush w/ the portal shader applied to it.

And remember, Portals will often times drastically reduce FPS, so use them sparingly.

And NEVER point a portal camera at a portal surface. You will not get a cool repeating mirorr effect. No good can come. ;):D

Hope that helps.

Agent:

Thanks for the prompt response, but I still cannot get these little blighters working!

I've tried every portal shader I can find (black background, white border and the words PORTAL written across them)

If you or anyone does manage to get it working, please reply here or msg me.

Cheers again for your help.

I know it can't be 1200 units, because I tried that. :D

Was trying to make a half circle dueling arena with a gigantic camera surface next to the duelers (with the camera pointing straight down on the duelists)... That was you could see yourself from above in the mirror next to you while you fought...

Needless to say, it didn't work... :p

On the Mirror-Issue: I just tried to make a big mirror by placing several squares side-by-side, each 64 units big, BUT theoretically you can use anything, only the borders of your mesh mustn't have a greater distance than 64units from your surface-portal (Especially the corners!).
