Jedi_Monk
"No, no, no! My father didn't fight in the wars! He was a navigator on a spice frieghter!" "That's what your uncle told you! He didn't agree with your father's ideals; thought he should have stayed here and not gotten involved..." So far, this little exchange is the only continuity error I've heard between the Prequels and the OT that I can find and can't explain away with simple logic. Now, there're two ways this quote could be accurate: a) Obi-Wan's a dirty liar! He lies about Vader being Luke's father! Now, maybe he's lying to Luke to get him to think that his father decided to follow Ben, and so Luke should too. Or... b) Owen does think this, but held his tongue in Episode II. When Obi-Wan returns to Tatooine and hands Luke over to Owen, you get an exchange where Owen says something like, "I knew he should have stayed here..." Any thoughts? Guest Jed
it could not have been when ani was a young boy living on tatooine to go off with qui gon,or maybe the lars clan new the skywalkers for quite some time, tatooine is sparsly populated, who knows... maybe we should get lucas in the spotlight to answer some loose ends...mastermind style
ValorXII
c) Obi-Wan could have simply assume that is why Owen lied to Luke, or searched Owen's feelings with the force to some effect.
darth tyrannus
POSSIBLE EPISOE 3 SPOILER: or maybe when obi wan takes baby luke to owen and beru in episode 3, owen says something like "anakin should have never gotten involved." still doesnt make sence cause they barely knew each other. I don't know... when your brother-in-law has fallen to the Dark Side and is annhilating a noble institution that has protected the helpless for 25,000 years... when his Master admits to maiming him and comes bearing his son... when Padme is Force-knows-where... people might open up a little bit. Norin Radd
You're also forgetting that Owen was probably scare as hell of Anakin since he slaughtered an entire settlement of Tusken Raiders. Still in Episode IV when Luke mentions Obi Wan's name, the look Beru gives Owen is hilarious, in retrospect to having seen Episode 2. I just wonder what happens to Padme. I'm thinking since Leia said that her mother was "very sad", that Padme survives and dies later. Some think that Padme went into hiding.
