Low fps - is it my graphics card?

Hello!

I've been having some problems with my system. At high quality 1024*768 i'm getting between 32fsp(action) to 46fps(still) and I think I should be getting much higher. My system is:

AMD Athlon XP 1900+

512mb PC2100 CAS2.5 DDR

ATI Radeon 8500 64mb RETAIL VERSION

2x 80gb Western Digital 7200rpm Hard Drives in RAID 0

19” Iiyama Vision Master Pro 453

Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum

I'm pretty sure I should be getting much higher than this. My 3DMark2001SE score is just above 8213 but I've been having some dodgy problems with my card in general (flickering at 85hz desktop etc).

For JKII I've set V sync Off, Simple Shadows and Dynamic Lights On. Antialiasing is OFF and Anisotropic Filtering is at 8x (in the middle).

Now, I suspect that something is iffy....

Help would be great!

Your system is pretty powerful. I don't see the problem based on specs. You are obviously talking about SP so I have no idea. You have a pretty great system so good luck. I know that you don't wanna low the resolution, but that will help.

My grafix card has been having trouble though....I get a lot of flickering on the menu of JKII, and sometimes, I get a purple blob in the bottom left corner of my monitor. It isn't my monitor (I've had 2 replacments) so I think that the signal form my card is being interfered with....probably a problem on the card itself.

Sounds to me like an overclocking problem if you have your system/video card overclocked too far it could cause problems like that. You also might have your monitor refresh rate set higher than your monitor can refresh. You might want to try changing it to optiumum in your display settings. Good luck gettin' it to work :D

I havent seen anyone else throw this down yet, it might be a no-brainer that youve already tried, but Ill post it anyway. Have you tried adjusting your hunkmegs and other memory settings? Increasing your hunkmegs might help by entering com_hunkmegs XXX into your console. You should set your hunkmegs at about 2/3rds of your total system memory, so since youre using 512 you should try com_hunkmegs 340 (rounded up a little). Maybe that will help.
