Gif Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 This is a real newbie question, but how do I use the models and Levels that I have downloaded?
GidionTheDead Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 If they come as .pk3, just place them into the "Jedi Knight 2/base" directory. If they come as .<whatever>, you have to use the path included in the original download. If it is a new .md3 (a model used in Radiant for mapping), the path should be "Jedi Knight 2/base/models/map_objects/...whatever". Once you have placed the levels where they belong, just start the game, open the console with "shift+^" or "shift+~" (shift + the key above [tab]) and type "map <levelname>". If you don't know the <levelname>, just open the pk3 with zip and search for the .bsp . This is the levelname (without the .bsp extension).
Gif Posted May 24, 2002 Author Posted May 24, 2002 Is the .md3 file for the models? I'm still a bit confused how to use those... I did get the levels working though
GidionTheDead Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 Place the pk3 with the level into the "base" folder of Jedi Knight 2. Start a game, open the console and type "map <levelname>" (for example "map duel_hangar", don't type the ""). --------------------------------------------------------------- Model can be used (in Radiant in this way): 1) Right-click and select "misc_model" (for mp) or "misc_model_breakable" (for sp). 2) Once you created it, a new window (like a normal save-as window) will pop-up. Close it. 3) Push [n], to open the object options (they should be open already, but if not...) and enter the variable "model". 4) Its count is a rather difficult question. If you place the model (for example "milleniumfalcon.md3") into the directory "C:\...\Jedi Knight 2\base\models\map_objects\ships\" you have to enter the count "models/map_objects/ships/milleniumfalcon.md3" If you want to use existing models (from the game), open the "assets0.pk3" with WinZip and search for the md3 files. The path shown next to the file. f.e.: "model" "models/map_objects/kejim/ravensclaw.md3" "model" "models/map_objects/mp/sphere.md3" "model" "models/map_objects/imp_mine/shuttle.md3" Have fun, take care, and happy mapping!
