Can someone explain tagging?

tags are basic triangles built into a mesh, seperate objects, linked to the skeleton and the mesh itself, which are used by the game engine to tell things like, this is where the contact point for his knee is if you go to slice it off, etc

or this is where the back and top of his head is

stuff like that

JK2 has about 50 tags i believe, cannot remember
