JK Legacy
hi, I've heard people talk about surface light but I dont know how to implement it, I can't find any textures (shaders?) in the exisitng pk3 that is actually a light texture that gives out light. Do I have to make one myself? or make a new shader file? or edit one? I don't know much about this whole shader thing, can someone shed some light on it for me? so yeah any help, thx in advance. Xcom
Usually all textures that have "light" word in the name, emit light.

Demyse
Originally posted by Xcom Usually all textures that have "light" word in the name, emit light. While that is usually the case, with JK2, it is not. So far, out of the light textures I've tried, all they do is glow. NONE of them emit light. The thread that Xcom links to should help you in getting some light emitting surfaces going, but you're gonna have to do a lot more experimentation than you'd normally have to do with lighting your map. Someone needs to e-mail Raven about this, and see if they'll re-release some shaders that have light emitting textures. Although, the reason they could have the lack of surface lights could be because of the problem that I was having (Refer to the thread posted by Xcom). If someone would give me an e-mail address I can use to get into contact with Raven, I'd gladly send them a question concerning this dilemma. cabraswel
True that not all shaders with "light" in the name in JK2 emit light, but believe it or not, some do. I made a test room with about ten boxes in it. Each box had a different shader that looked like it might emit light on it. When I tried it out, only two of the ten emitted light, but they DID. Someone ought to make a handy list of which shaders will light their environment. If I ever have free time again I'll throw one together. But in the meantime, just play with it and you'll find some eventually.
UniKorn
Shaders have changed a lot, I am using a q3 custom texture set for jk2 and I had to change a lot to get the shaders working.
