Please help: Patch problem

I've downloaded the 1.03 patch, but when I try to install the patch it reports an "unknown error" towards the end of the process. This not only leaves the game unpatched but also corrupts the game (it will not start up).

 

I used Go!Zilla to download it, using several different mirrors, could this have corrupted the patch?

 

I have the U.K. version of the game, is this patch compatible with the U.K. version?

 

Any surgestions are most welcome (except redownloading the patch as I have a poor conection because of where I live, just 16800 bps).
