I've made a map in the editor. Now, what do i do so that I can test it in-game.

 

Do I select somthing in the BSP menu? And if so, what?

 

After I've done the BSP opperation, what do I do? It seems to have made two files in my game/data/base/maps folder, one is test2.bsp, the other is test2.bak and test2.map. What are these files?

 

In game I tried the following:

I opened the console, then I typed sv_pure 0 and then devmap test2 but it said it couldn't find it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your time.

gamedata/base/maps

 

or is it just a typo?

the bsp file is the file you want load jkii (mp or sp depending on what type of map you made) and then bring down the console and type "devmap test2" if there is a test2.bsp map file in your base/maps folder it will load

That wouldn't be it... devmap just enables cheats by default...

 

Are you trying it in SP or MP? And did you lay down entities in SP or MP mode?

 

And just fyi...

 

.map = the file you are actually working on... basically a wireframe version of your map in its simplest form

.bak = a backup version of your map that Radiant makes each time you save

.bsp = a compiled map with full VIS and LIGHT information encoded into the file

MP entities will happen by default when you fix the project settings. The best way to tell: is there an info_player_deathmatch entity available to you? If so, then you have the MP settings. If it disappears from the entity list then you are set for SP in proj settings.

wherefrom do you try to start the map? start it right from the main menu, not from a running game, I used to get the same error trying this.

I got it working, thanks for the help everyone. I had to do the console and launch from the main menu, not a game I made.

 

I'm glad you like my name, I like it too!

I like it! It be cool to make the walls as varied as the floor and ceiling. And I would suggest makeing the ceiling higher, gotta be able to jump around a bit. It looks great otherwise!

Well, if you have base and gamedata in the same foler, juedt copy your .bsp file to gamedata/base/maps.Well, taht's what I think...
