Soulless
Many many people want more single player maps based around different characters. Here's my idea, i'm not much of a mapper but I am a good RPG/Story writer (come up with about 500 ideas in a day). If I can get the best single player mappers to unite and create a good long extensive single player campaign (with scripts and cutscene's) then the community will arise once again. Play with different characters (i.e. Luke Skywalker) Play as imperials maybe...I have lots of ideas but I lack the mapping expertise (a box, a door and a light is about as far as I have gotten). Would any decent mappers with plenty of spare time like to join me on my epic crusade to bring new campaigns to JKII. (note: Pls dont flame me for being n00b/idiot/fool, im trying to bring a genuine idea WHICH NO ONE HAS DONE YET to JKII that could help the community.) Noble goal, unrealistic demands. 1. Like they say in Hollywood, everybody has a movie idea. Idea alone won't get you anywhere. You must have other skills. 2. Thinking big is a common mistake. I've seen that in other communities. They plan, write stories, making fancy annoucements and .... nada. People just don't have the time to work fulltime on a mod. I am not saying that making a good SP mod is impossible, I am saying it's damn hard and takes a lot of effort and time and good organisation. Good luck. RichDiesal
Jobless for the summer, or are you just not going to college/high school in the fall? I ask because a good single player mod could take as long as a year to complete with a small team (read: 10-15). There's a lot to it.
Soulless
I have a job, and I have college....but if everyone else had this philosophy then nothing would get done. This isn't exactly a single player mod (i.e. rifling through source code which doesn't exist) but more maps and adventure's. Arn't people crying for more single player maps, the team can give them to you...no matter how long.
DaCliff
I've be willing to help out, although I have very limited knowledge with map making as I only started yesterday. However I do wish to make sp missions. I have some ideas Soulless if you would like to talk to me about them. I've already started a "mission" of my own but it needs great amounts of work done to it yet. With extra models being one aspect. Soulless, I'd love to talk to you about all these, and I'll try to contact you.

Drakewl
someone with some good experience in at least one area (mapping, scripting, coding, modelling/texturing) should make the project management and planning in a team with more than 3 people on a project that consists of huge tasks, otherwise there is a big chance to fail (its the curse of many mod-teams) in time or quality don't try to work with 2 mappers on the same map (both taking about the half of the map), i have seen people doing this and they failed to put the pieces together in a composition that owns the same visual style, atmosphere and quality. If you are working together in the same room this wouldn't be a big problem, but i wouldn't recommend it for an internet joint work. Singleplayer-maps have much scripting work, a mapper with scripting experience is a definitive plus because he can optimize the brush geometry/architecture for scriptevents. keep your vision generous and ambitioned but keep your way and tasks to the vision realistic (regarding quality and time) and not to optimistic mistakes sneak into the dev-process when you don't expect them and don't forget that a solid project conversion has a thousand times larger worth than 100 good or innovative ideas that can't be implemented
volrathxp
Sometimes a large part of it is also getting members too.... I know we're still needing a scripting and modeling person. which btw, i've already started on the first level/graphics work/website, so pretty soon we should have some screenies or so to preview. also: first two levels set in Tatooine... yay! volrath
Drakewl
just curious, volrath what locations do you/your team intent to build for the tatooine levels? just for info: my team is working on a level on tatooine that will be located in the pod-racer canyons of episode 1 unfortunately our ETA is 2 months away, but i think (and hope) we won't be a disappointment for the long waiting time
