VIO
MP duel jk2radiant ------------------------- for what the above means go here you should read it ^ i have in my map a room with lava below a force field(look here) but the really does havoc on the framerates! will putting another less dramatic TRANSPARENT shader there instead have the smae affect or will it raise the fps. if not what else could i use there or something i could use instead of my lava(i love that shader) to get somewhat of the same effect? thx VIO
Machine_IX
Try posting a screen shot with R_Speeds on it, that might help a decent mapper see what it is thats slowing stuff down...

RichDiesal
If you just remove the forcefield shader, does that fix the problem?

VIO
ok i went back and deleted all my pillers and force field and guess what! no improvement im guesses that the fps im getting are because of my machine not the level but then again im not an expereianced mapper! any ideas on why my map is only getting like 20-30 fps

Xcom
Hmm, okay I see them. Triscount is generally okay, IMO. Must the textures/shaders.

Xcom
Difficult to say judging only by screenshots. I'd say reduce the number of textures used. Don't use huge textures (like 1024x1024 sized). Again I am not sure that this is it.
VIO
ok well i think the vine texture is pretty large

RichDiesal
By the looks of it, that's simply his video card struggling with layering the transparencies...

RichDiesal
Really. Take a pic of the r_speeds and your fps while both the forcefield and lava are gone.

RichDiesal
Hrm...how odd. r_speeds don't look bad at all... the leaf ratings might be a little high, but I don't think that has any major effect on framerate... I have no idea. You tried it on another comp?
