Asurr_Kith
Greetings all. I'm wanting to start working on single player mapping, but I'm just not sure where to begin. For a simple test, I created a couple of rooms, dropped in a few NPC's, a player start, and a level change to end the level. However, when I try and test it, I see nothing but blurs of my character, and his death yell as he falls apparently. Taking the single player entities out and setting the entities to MP_entities.def, I placed a spawn point in for multiplayer, and tested it. Loaded up fine, no problem like above. I know I'm missing something. I've searched these forums ever since the SDK came out, but saw no reason to post since my questions had already been answered. But, I haven't found anything covering the basic starting points of SP map creation. If I missed it, please let me know and accept my apologies for posting this question. If there is a tutorial on this subject, for example, for Quake II, which could help me, I would be greatly appreciative. Also, is it just me or is the search feature on this board not working? If it isn't, I'm just curious to the reason why. Thank you for your time and patience with this beginner.
Xcom
Weird. I dunno. Sounds like you doing everything ok only remove level_change cuz it's supposed to load other map and not end the level. What texture did you apply to the floor? Yes, I miss Search Function too. IIRC, they say it's because this function causes server lags when lots of members trying to search. Asurr_Kith
Thanks for the reply, Xcom. Though the search would come in handy, I can understand their reasons. By the way, I should've mentioned this earlier, I put the level change in just to get out of my map. I thought that, maybe if I did that, it could possibly end this dilemma. I'm trying anything. To answer your question, I first used the carpet texture in the kejim (?) textures. I deleted it, though, so I rebuilt a small map and used the new5 texture from, I believe, the imp_garrison textures. I'll just experiment around with Radiant, hopefully I'll find a mistake I made. ---edit--- I figured it out. I did make a mistake after all, it seems. Instead of applying caulk to the non-visible surfaces, I accidentally applied non-solid caulk. Apparently, that's why I was falling. I applied the caulk and then re-textured, and now everything works fine.
