Just played JK again

Well I had to unhook my computer from my router so that I could play a XWA game today. While I was at it, I decided to play a little JK.

I fired up Gamespy and the next thing I know, I am hosting a game of 8 people. After about 5 seconds, parts of the level start disappearing, people are using the force like it's an unlimited resource, and other people were simply unstoppable.

I guess the cheating techniques in JK have gotten a lot better since I last played. No longer is force blind a little bit stronger then it is supposed to be.

The cheating has gotten out of hand because all the cheaters finally found out that all you need is notepad to make a hack. Everone is bound to run into a cheater at least once every time you play. :o

Yea, what's worse is that covert cheating has gotten a lot more advanced now as well. I used to be able to play competitive games on the zone without any hint of my opponent cheating, but now people are able to extend their saber a few inches, or make destruction use just a bit less mana etc. In my opinion, those are even worse than the normal cheats because it's often very difficult to tell when your opponent is cheating. You can never go on the zone or anywhere anymore without thinking that your opponent might be cheating by using some *silent bacta* hack or extended saber hack or whatever.

Hopefully JK2 won't be like this at all... the cheating is what killed JK for me

I stopped using the zone and gamespy for just those reasons- too many damn cheaters. These days, I only play against people I know I can trust not to be goons. And use the IP game feature. My ignore list on the zone got to be quite huge.
