Narshada Secret Area 6

When you jump onto the garbage hauler you pass by a open shaft door just above you. Your supposed to be able to jump from the garbage hauler into that open door to get to secret area 6. I can not make the jump. Is it a mistake to try or is there a trick to the jump? I tried using detonators, trip mines etc. to get a rocket jump effect but that has been programmed out.

 

The door is just before the first push button to make the garbage hauler continue on a path to exit the level.

 

I am guessing but I think the path from the open door leads to the ledge above the R5 unit you pass before you jump down to the garbage hauler.
