Light entities/ ceiling questions

I havn't found a tutorial that helped me much with this one. Can i stretch a light entity like i can stretch a normal brush to cover a larger area, or do i ahve to keep putting them all over the place and overlap them so it works properly like in nar shadda. when i opened that map up, all it was was GREEN! lol....

 

I also read where height does affect brightness... can someone explain this to me?

If it is any help, i have a large open undergound cavern with a large reactor in the middle. I want the cavern to be dark, and the walkways and the main reactor body to be a bit brighter...

Also, i accidently deleted my cieling of my cavern. It opens up into the editor space.. I.e. When i look up, everything is a dull gray!!

Can i just rebuild the ceiling or do i ahve to make a whole new cavern, then import my reactor into the new one?
