Questions about the new Nvidia Detonator XP Drivers

Hi all,

 

I just downloaded the new Nvidia Detonator XP 29.42 drivers released today, and I have two questions before I install them:

 

1) In my Add/Remove Programs window, I can uninstall my Nvidia Windows 98 Display Drivers (this would be the Nvidia Detonator XP 28.32 Drivers). Should I do this first, or can I just install the 29.42 drivers right away?

 

2) After I install the 29.42 drivers, should I re-install DirectX 8.1?

 

I have an MSI GeForce4 MX 440 with Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition and Microsoft DirectX 8.1.

to be safe uninstall your current drivers

then install the standard VGA graphics driver

then only do you install the new drivers

 

I don't think you need to reinstall Directx

Juxtapose, can you tell us how JK2 works with the new drivers? I'm also using the 28.32s currently.

So far I haven't noticed any problems with the new 29.42 drivers. Nothing worse but nothing better either . I've only played for about 30 minutes since though.

 

Note that I did not uninstall the old 28.32 drivers, I just installed the 29.42 drivers and the installation went fine (I checked and all the drivers properly display as 29.42). I also did not re-install Microsoft DirectX 8.1.

Check to see if your TV-out still works, mine stopped working after installing the 29.42 drivers.

 

I went back to the old drivers and now TV-out is working again.

 

JK2 isn't working however, I get all texture planes 'pulled out' of the screen as some strange 3D effect, everything is obscured, playing this way is impossible. This happens both with the old and new drivers (and with or without the 1.03 patch).
