Custom Textures

I don't know how to make textures that look close to reality. Can some of you texture artists help me out and tell me what programs to use or secrets to texturing?

and to make realistic textures depends on what you want, if you want skin take a close up pic of your skin scan it in, open it in photoshop touch it up so when titled it will work seemlessly

 

(i cant spell btw, im a graphics guy lol)

 

oh dont forget if you want depth in it, you have to make a black and white copy of it, for the bump map not gray scale, black and white

oh yea dont be put down by other people when they say somethign is not good or ok. When i fris started doing graphics they looked liek crap

 

and now i am geting better every time i do something, you just have to learn the programs you wish to use and hone your techniques
