eben15
Vader easily read Lukes mind in Rotj. When Luke fights Vader in ESB, he had just been training with Yoda, right? So why did Vader not pick that up in Lukes' thoughts. In Rotj, luke, asks Yoda, why he did not tell him Vader was his father, meaning, it must have been one of the things he thought of after Vader told him right? He must have thought "Damn Vader's my father, why didn't Yoda, tell me." Vader would have then sent troops to Dagobah, or at least said something to the effect of "So, Yoda's alive, is he." three answers to this come to mind. 1. Luke did not think of Yoda, once during his fight with Vader. this seems highly unlikely. 2. Vader did not learn to read minds until Rotj. hey we should make Vader be able to read minds, that would be cool, someone said. 3. Lucas was stupid and he didn't bother to check the previous movies for continuity errors when he made Rotj. What do you guys think?
obi
I think Vader was little busy in ESB to read Luke's mind. I mean come on, Luke was swingin that saber pretty hard. Blast! This is why I hate flying! Grinnin guy says hello.
Vestril
3. Lucas was stupid and he didn't bother to check the previous movies for continuity errors when he made Rotj. What do you guys think? Most movies have continuity errors. It gets worse in one trilogy, and now as we move into a second trilogy it gets even worse. Your movies wouldn't be any better, so stop harping on Lucas. eben15
I meant after Vader had cut off Luke's hand and Luke had crawled over to the edge of a platform. Vader had time to stop and address luke. Also, I have nothing bad to say about Lucas, That last bit was meant as a small personal jab more than an insult. .....maybe Vader felt it was best to let sleeping dogs lie, and rather not challege Yoda, in a fight that he would probably lose. Iblis Reborn
ya Yoda was pretty kickass (though i didnt like how his fight seen went or how he was animated in ep 2) Vader was more reading his feelings than his mind i think
Faye Ying
send troops to dagobah? you gotta be joking you saw how luke landed his xwing. think of imperials landing with unsheilded ties or with shuttles? one big mess. and yoda would probably feel them coming and fling them around as their landing. Darth Nader
Vader was way too caught up in all the other stuff going on to bother sending troops to Dagobah. he probably figured that Yoda was no serious threat. Vader was busy trying to please Palpatine, smash the Rebellion, hunt down Han Solo and the Falcon, and choking those insufferable Imperial officers to death all at the same time! well, there's one lesser known use of the force: multi-tasking ****, i need to get more sleep
DannyJAllTheWay
Maybe there will be an answer to this in Ep3. In regard to the whole Yoda thing.
Jubatus
Besides I hardly think Vader nor Palpatine can read minds per say. They pick up on emotions and not 'words in the mind'. But, yes, Vader somehow figures out that Lukes major concern is his sister. Perhaps that can be attributed to feelings getting so strong that they might become interprettable into words by the keen perceiver. Just a thought.
