Good strategy guide?

Hello!

Is there a good strategy guide out there somewhere, I´m a newbie and want some basic fast info.

 

For example.

A general guide what to build first to get the most out of my wookie famliy.

What troops/mechs to build when and where.

 

Btw. Im running Mac version.

You looking for a guide for the original game or for the Clone Campaigns expansion? I've looked at the original SWGB guide (by Prima) and I suppose it was ok, but if you really want to learn strategy, the one of the best place to begin is by looking at strategy sections on webpages. Sadly, it can be hard to find to pages for SWGB with a lot of strategy listed, though you can pick up tidbits from the boards here. If you're new to this completely (ie. you haven't played Age of Empires, Age of Kings, or Age of Conquerors), then you might want to search for strategy information for THOSE games. There is quite a bit of strategy tips for them listed on various sites. The games vary because of some differences in gameplay (you have animal shelters, air, power, and other considerations in SWGB) but a lot of the basic strategies for success are applicable. Lastly, another good way to learn is to watch recorded games of experienced players or play multi-player games.

I got the Prima one (a long time ago) and a lot of info is incorrect and biased. It seems like they only read the manual in making the guide. Not much info either strat-wise. Your best bet are either these forums or the Strat section of each website.

Yeah, that's the problem I had with the Prima guide. It might be helpful for giving you more information on the units (though I didn't really notice anything) and if you need help on the campaigns then it can give you an idea about what you're facing in them. But for overall strategy... feh.
