how do you get the tie fighter in the imperial academy heist day and night

To get the tie at night:

After the sensors, you should see to paths on your radar, take the smallest one on the top. After the little cutscene, you'll see a little black dot near the outpost. This is the tie's pilot, shoot him and a rebel icon will appear near the tie so you can switch ships.

 

To get the tie during the day:

After the sensors, bear to the right. Look on the radar for a canyon with only two enemies (the tie and a comm tower). Ion the tower, then ion the fighter sitting on the ground. It will take off, now ion it in the air. It will land and a rebel icon will come up. BTW The ties are easy in this level because they are cadets.

 

If you successfully steal the tie and complete the mission in both day and night... then complete all 10 regular missions, then you can play as the tie in other missions (but I wouldn't recommend it, bad shields).

OK, I've got a question. How do you get past the stinkin' sensors. I can't seem to fly any lower but I always get detected.

If youre playing during day, use your ion cannon. if you're playing at night hold forward on the control stick and the speeder will corespondingly fly close to the ground. *yawn* try not to fly close to the sensors either.
