I call dibs on Hydroball map "Ender's Game" (WIP)

That's right, it's mine! You can't have it! I'm gonna make the battle room from the book "Ender's Game" for the Hydroball map. Mine mine mine! I'll be sure to orient the enemy gate "down" :).

PS: For all the people paying attention to my other WIP, duel_frogger, never fear, because I'm almost done and refuse to get distracted by this, I just wanted to call dibs. I have done some work on it so I can say it's a WIP and then accuse anyone else that makes it of stealing my idea :). I've made the basic area (oooooo how hard is that, took my 5 minutes). Now I'll go finish my frogger map!

Actually, this whole idea would be better as a mod, but hydro ball is as close as I'll get.

The concept is that these kids are training to be soldiers. They train in armies of 40 kids. They wear this protective armor, go into a room, and shoot eachother in what is basicly laser tag. Only if a laser hits say you knee, that part of the suit/armor will freeze. Headshots imobilize them completely etc. You need 5 surviveing people to win, but that's besides the point, because it's hydroball. The only think ender's gameish will be the map, which will not be in water, but in a zero-g room. There will also be obstacles just like in the book, to add more stratagy.

The room is a rectangular prism. There are gates at either side (lengh wise). It wasn't explained in great detail, but there are some kinds of hand hold along the walls. I would make the walls some sort of techno looking surface or metal plateing.

The armies enter their gates when the game starts, and go towards eachother. In the hallway by the gate where the soldiers wait till the gate opens, there is normal gravity. When they go through the gate, they would try and keep their orientation on gravity the same as it was in the hall.

When the main character ender becomes a commander, he has his army try and re shape their view of the room so that the enemy is down not straight accross. So I know it's hard to invision, but they'd be jumping through the gate, then "falling" towards their enemies. This is why I'll make the level up and down instead of side to side. I don't think I can replicate the effect described in the book to its fullest extent (because it takes place on a space station). Anyway, now that i've tried to explain the concept, more about the map.

There obstacles radomly placed in the zero g room to add the the strategy. I'll most likely have these, and try and position them so you can throw the hydroball and reflect it around people into the goals (which will also be the gates hopefully). The obstacles are called "stars" and they come in different basic geometric shapes.

Yup, but I don't have the skill to do it!

Here's how I invision it. It's zero-g of course (only in the battle room). The teams assemble at the gates, the gates open, and when you jump through, then you're in the zero-g. You have your trusty pistol, and there's location based damage w/ the ghoul 2 engine right? So hot damn it's perfect. Jump key kicks, so when you hit a wall feet first and kick, you kick off the wall, changeing your direction. It's perfect.
