MadCowRunner
I have a wierd problem here indeed... in almost any game that I play nowadays (but mainly in Q3A-engined ones) I get this weird-ass problem where after about 5 minutes the framerate drops through the floor. For example, in JK2, I'll start a game (SP, MP online, botmatch, you name it) and I'll start out with pretty good framerates, up around 45-55fps. Then, about 5 or 6 minutes into the game, my framerate will drop to about 2 or 3 fps for a short while (less than a second) before it jumps back up to normal. As I go on, the frequency in how often this occurs and the length of time it goes on for goes up, until I finally get so pissed off that I quit and go kick my cat (but not really, I don't even own a cat). Now I was wondering if ANYONE else has this sort of problem, let alone knows of a solution for it. I'm currently running: P3 800mhz 256megs RAM GeForce 2 MX 400 (64meg) WinXP I have no problems as far as swap files and things go (I have about 30gigs free for that), and I've tried basically every combination of drivers and settings for my video card to no avail. It doesn't matter if I turn all the settings up or down or all the extras (like GL_Extentions) off; the end-result is still the same. My virtual cat gets kicked. MadCowRunner
Just as a side note, I never had these problems before about 3 months ago; I have no idea why my machine is acting up like this now, but if I find out what happenned, I might have to extract revenge on all those involved... unless of course, if it was something I did. 'Cause I don't think I need to be punishing myself, not after these past few months...
