Overlord22
Hi all, i've been having lots of trouble with my GeForce 2 MX|400 ever since patch 1.03, lots of random freeze-ups and fps slowdowns. I am going to buy a new video card soon in hopes of getting better performance, and hopefully stopping the random freezing and crashing of my computer. So far, I've been trying to decide between GeForce 4 Ti 4200, and Ati Radeon 8500. Was wondering if anyone has had any problems with either of these cards so far,(any freezing on other GeForce cards as well..?) and which people would recommend to buy more. Chiles4
Definitely, go Nvidia. The 4200 is an awesome card and can be had for a very reasonable price. Check out newegg.com and pricewatch.com for some example prices. Of course, your experience may vary depending on the other components in your system. Best if you have a beefy cpu and a name-brand quality, high-powered power supply to go with it. They say that ATI has finally gotten their driver act together but my prior experiences with ATI have ruined me for life on their products. Robbiesan
Well, I have heard the 4200 is a great card.. from experience I can tell you the Radeon 8500 is a fabulous card.. the drivers are very good as well.. I upgraded from the same card as you to the 8500 and not looked back.. I was leary at first regarding ATI drivers but I have been very happy with drivers.. I am sure your would be happy with the 8500 but price is an issue for sure.. I chose the 8500 a few months ago since it cost only 2/3 of the Ti500 and had similar performance (with good drivers of course)..

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.... http://www.nvidia.com Would you happen to be running a motherboard with a VIA chipset as well? I've heard those have problems with 1.03 without the latest patch (sorry I don't have link handy)
