GeForce 3 Frame Rate Problem??

Ok, before I get started. Heres my comp's specs:

1.0GHz AMD Athlon T-Bird

256MB PC133 SDRAM

nVidia GeForce 3 Ti500

60GB 7200RPM Hard Drive

Sound Blaster Live Value.

Now, In every single game I play aside from games like Morrowind(which is a bloody hardcore system hog)...I get at the least 60 fps with max settings. I got near 60 fps or higher with max settigs in JKII towards the beginning of the game...but towards the end I started averaging around 20-30...and then whenever I got in a saber battle, I would average around 10. The worst of all was when I was fighting Desann. I got 5 fps! I couldn't even hit him because I couldn't tell what was happening.

Now, this is REDICULOUS because my computer should be able to handle a game, especially after i brought the settings down to minimum to see if that would help, yet I still got 5fps.

This is also horrible because my cousin...whos setup is:

800mhz Pentium 3

384mb or so RAM

GeForce 2 MX

He got 60fps throughout the whole game, and other GeForce 2 MX users I know of...also got this speed. Obviously the GeForce 3 is MUCH faster and powerful than a GeForce 2, so there must be something wrong with JKII. Does anybody know a fix? If not, Raven..if you somehow read this...RELEASE A PATCH FOR THIS!

You might want to try Detonator Destroyer to clean out your Nvidia drivers then start fresh with a new set. I've gotten fine results with 23.12, 28.32 and 29.42. If it was me I might even try a full fresh install of my OS but you may not have that luxury.

I have a 1.2G Tbird (133FSB chip)

256 MB DDR (or 512MB - has no effect on performance).

GF3 Ti 200

and I play at 1600x1200x32 with settings at high so that obviously confirms your statement that you should be eating this game up with your video card. And I don't think it's because you're using SDRAM either.

Have you benched with 3DMarks to get a feel for your overall system performance? Or is it only JK2 that has performance problems. With settings and res at minimum you should be getting framerates of over 200fps.

Also keep in mind that your video card will scale well with larger cpus. For example, pairing a GF3 Ti 500 with an AMD 2000+ cpu and DDR memory will give your system a very big boost but there's no reason you shouldn't be getting EXCELLENT framerates right now.
