fair enough i suppose....

anyway, ive posted TWO new renders, thats right, TWO!

they're pretty much the same, except the last one i posted pretty much shows the finished front torso.

I'm now posting renders with both the faceted and smoothed rendering styles, so everybody gets to see what they want :)

since these renders (i posted em about 5 hours ago, but these forums werent working...probably due to the traffic 500 or so ppl right now!!) ive already done work on the back of the suit, its a bit fiddley, but i hope to have a render for ya tomorrow

  • 3 months later...

though i dont particularily like anime, i'd have to say that Nene's new suit is the coolest. then Sylia's new, then Priss's old, then Priss's new, then Linna's new. in that order. the rest i wouldnt worry about. hope that helps you decide.

While i'd love to make a model or two with no helmet, i dont think i will.....its mainly an animation issue.

I'd love to do a Sylia's new suit, without her helmet (with her hair tied back and waving in the wind, i'll post a pic :) ) but, i wouldnt do that unless i could make a custom animation for her hair and such.

While i COULD get softimage, i dont wanna bother screwing around with it.

I think the faces of japanese animation are the best part, while some people think the eyes look weird (and in some anime's they do *cough* "Nandesico" *cough*) the good old japs do expression and emotion really well.

anyways, i'll post a few example pics of the girls 'sans' helmet, from the video covers

PS. I just saw the poll results so far, and its quite surprising with Nene in the lead (well, by one vote), i always didnt really like that suit very much, all those silly irrelevant wings and stuff....ah well...

Maybey if everyone wants a Nene suit, thats the next on my adgenda....but i really wanted a New Sylia suit :(

hey that looks pretty good, but cos of q2, the polys will be pretty low, and it looks like this model is the 'crash' priss

(eighties anime hair, *shudder*)

I'm gunna make this one from scratch, according to the 'Tokyo:2040' specs, i think it looks better. Ive never even seen any of the crash OVA tapes anyway :)

Bubblegum Crash *tsk* This is the Bubblegum CRISIS Priss. Crash was a nasty low quality sequel to _the_ original cyberpunk Anime.

2040 was better than crash but I don''t like the way they played with the characters motivations, it felt like they were just trying to make them trendy.

*Sings*

"Big City Kodoku na Heart To Heart"

It is indeed low poly, but personally I think its a good representation.

sorry :)

ive only seen pics from crash/original crisis, and i'm making my model based upon the BGC:tokyo2040 suit, which doesnt have the clawlike right hand and left hand simply a glove (well, this is what it looks like from the pics)

just a quick progress report, ive pretty much finished the helmet.

This includes part of the neck, that i'll cap and use for when the head gets 'chopped off' :) I've now started the torso, which looks pretty dodgey at the moment, so im not going to post a picture right now :)

i was thinking on where to put the caps (or where to separate the parts) The head has the separation just in the middle of the neck, and the torso just above the hips. Where should the arm seperations be? And legs? There are 3 sections on each (i think) so any feedback would be very helpful

okay, the intrest seems to have dropped off slightly :)

nonetheless, i am still working on the model

*The helmet is FINISHED! im not gunna make any changes to it unless theres problems later down the road with skin/bones etc..

*the torso is about 50% done, no render yet (it still looks a little weird, but as soon as it looks alright, i'll stick one up

nobody has given me feedback on how the actual model looks, with comparison to the actual priss suit.....just a thought :)

well, it is lookin good. the modeled helmet looks like the priss helmet.

and about the anime face/head thing, if you dont want to do very well then. you make me sad

is it possible that you will update with a few new pics? (if you have progress of course

whew! my OS really gave me some **** a few days ago (i stuck on winXP to use Mental Ray for 3ds, it renders really nicely, but winXP is sooo ****ty with anthing older than 2 years)

so, one re-Ghosting later, ive got winME back on and back to work on the model...

ive posted a few of the latest renders on my site for u to look at

as for the helmetless models suggested by arctic blade, as i said earlier i'd only do that if it looked good, and for that to happen, i'd have animate the 'hair' bone (create one actually, then animate it) to give that flowing feeling....i hate Jan's hair, especially when she runs, so stiff and crappy

oh well.....enjoy the renders

in an attempt to get this back to the first page, i'm giving another quick update

the whole front of priss's suit is finished *almost* theres just a little bit on the front under the bust that ive not added yet (a kind of 'push-up bra' thats like a little triangle) I need to watch more of the episodes to get a look at the suit from different angles....

anyway, no new renders to post yet, but i will post the two images that im using as a reference....they are actual design sketches - to scale :) by the mecha designer Shinji Aramaki (i hope this is right, or i'll sound like a dope)

thx for the input :)

yes the final skin will be shiny, since the suit is metal, but obviously it'll be textured correctly.

on a similar note, i dont know why ppl want a faceted render, since in the game, the mesh is smoothed anyway. I wanna make it so it looks best in the game, so that means smoothed right?
