la$her
1. If I have a vertical sky texture (ie - on a wall) I can always see any rooms or such things that might be behind it through the sky. Obviously this isn't something I particularly want to happen, so how do I get rid of this? Is it even possible? 2. With the misc_model entity, I was disappointed to find that the models aren't solid. I have played on maps where they are solid, anyone know how this is done?
The Truthful Liar
la$her welcome to the jk2.net forums, I hope you enjoy your stay!! Please accept this "jk2.net welcome basket" filled with endless ammounts of goodies which you can snack on while browsing our forums!! :D 1. No it isn't possible ... (perhaps unless you have some sort of 'specialy' made shader..) 2. You are meant to add a Clip Brush to the base of the model I believe.
RichDiesal
People don't seem to understand that it acts just like actual sky. If you have an object behind your shy shader...you will be able to see it. The reasoning is that when you place a sky shader, you're not actually placing sky. You're placing a window out to a sky box that the engine draws unreasonably far out from the level. If there's anything in between, you will be able to see it. And yes, you need to place Clip brushes in the shape of the model. Don't just place a giant box around the model - that's just idiotic - instead place individual clip brushes reasonably close to the model in roughly its own shape. That should take care of you.
