Sniper Wolf
Seems that somehow my 3dsmax screwed up or reset to a default setting. Now I can't get the texture to show up in the viewports, the selected area turns black. Only when I render it does it become textured. And also the cape on the model I am using became one sided. How do I make it two-sided faces again? Thanks. - Wolf
VampireHunterD
Are you using 3dsMax 4, if so, I probably know what the problem is with the textures not showing up in the viewports. Ask yourself the following questions. They might help. 1.)Are you working with a .3ds or a .max file format? (exporting to .3ds screws up textures for some weird reason. just resave it as a .max and reapply the textures.) 2.)Did you check the little cube-like button in the material editor to make sure it is active for each material? (This is what shows textures in viewports. It is located right below the materials somewhere on the right. It looks like a blue and white cube. When you put your mouse over it it will say: "Show map in viewport". Make sure this button is active for all of the textures you want to show up.) And as for the cape being one sided, I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is there. But don't worry. I have 468 page reference book that tells all about 3dsMax 4 and how to get started with it. If you have any other questions just ask me and I can probably look up the answer in the book for you.
